Susan Hughes's Diary | Diary
From 2009 my work has journeyed from the abstract to exploring identity through drawings and paintings taken from life. This change of direction was inspired by the writing of the French philosopher Lucie Irigaray. Having studied Freud and the French feminists as part of a Research Masters degree, I found in particular Irigaray’s ideas regarding female relationships thought provoking. Since then I have been seeking to relate these ideas to my thoughts and feelings on the feminine.
Susan is also a qualified teacher and runs a life drawing class at St.Paul's Church Parish Centre, on Abbotsbury Road, every last Thursday of the Month - 10am-12. See details at this link
Susan also runs a variety of workshops from her studio during open studio events.
