Julie McCabe | Profile
I am a multidisciplinary artist who enjoys experimenting & I work with both 2D & 3D mediums including drawing, photography, painting, sculpture & assembly.
After working for many years in the public sector, I finally in 2005, got the opportunity to follow my dream & study Ba (Hons) Fine Art at The Arts University College Bournemouth & graduated in 2010. It was during this process I learned to let go of preconceived ideas about art & travelled a wondrous creative journey of experimentation & discovery.
My latest project is inspired by the fractures in the rocks along the Jurassic coast. I am intrigued by the opportunities these fractures present, not only to geologists & archaeologists in their discovery of the past, but also the natural Patterns that I see before me when scanning cliff face & ledges.
My Ink drawings are my interpretation of some of these patterns laid out on paper some of which I have made using recycled material incorporating tiny amounts of ground rock. Some appear to resemble cave paintings & I enjoy finding shapes within them which might resemble something real or imaginary.
